A heartbroken cat has spent an entire year by her deceased owner’s grave, displaying unwavering loyalty and devotion.
Animals form strong bonds with their companions, and it often happens that even after the death of a loved one, a pet is unable to part ways. This story is precisely what was recounted by Keli Keningau, an Indonesian resident, at one of the local cemeteries, Vancoportorks.
It has been a year since the owner of this cat passed away, yet the feline has remained steadfastly by her old lady’s grave. Keli Keningau Prayitno, a 28-year-old passer-by from Central Java, Indonesia, was the first to hear the mournful cries of the cat and attempted to help by adopting her.
However, the following day, the cat returned to her owner’s grave as usual. The only time she leaves the spot is when she visits her owner’s children’s house, where they provide her with food. Strangers who encounter her also offer food and water, but the cat desires nothing more than to rest on the earth and sleep at the grave every night.
Keli shared with The Mirror, “She sleeps there and meows. It’s very sad to see. It shows just how close animals are to their owners.”
According to animal experts, despite their cool and aloof demeanor, cats do experience genuine grief after the death of their owners. They can become anxious, disinterested in their surroundings, and display behaviors that are unlike their usual selves. In severe cases, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian to discuss the possibility of providing anti-anxiety medication for the cat.
Indeed, it is a heartbreaking story.
A passerby came across a mourning cat that was perched on her old lady’s grave, crying out in sorrow.
As it turns out, the cat has spent the entire year in the graveyard, unable to overcome the loss of her beloved owner.
Despite someone’s attempt to adopt the cat and offer her a new home, she ran away to be by the side of the grave once again.
The sight of this devoted feline is truly heart-wrenching, serving as a poignant reminder of the deep bond between animals and their owners.
