George Foreman asserts that despite Deontay Wilder’s impressive 97% knockout ratio, he has not reached the level of skill exhibited by Mike Tyson.
George Foreman, the legendary heavyweight boxer, asserts that Deontay Wilder does not possess the punching power of Mike Tyson, despite having a knockout ratio of 97%.
After his recent victory over Luis Ortiz, Deontay Wilder raised his knockout win percentage to 97%, with a total of 41 KOs in 43 fights.
Rocky Marciano currently ranks second on the list with an 87% knockout ratio. This percentage is shared by Ukrainian legend Vitali Klitschko.
In the 4th position on the rankings is George Foreman with an 85% knockout ratio in a total of 81 fights. Mike Tyson holds the 5th position with a 76% knockout ratio after 58 bouts.
Commenting on Wilder’s recent victory, George Foreman stated, “He’s very good, but he hasn’t reached the level of Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, or Mike Tyson. He hasn’t been recognized like those names.”
“For me, Wilder needs a win similar to the way Mike Tyson defeated Trevor Berbick. When I watched that fight of Mike Tyson, all I could think was ‘he truly is a nightmare.'”
The heavyweight legend then added, “I believe the rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury will be the most dramatic showdown, not only of this year but of all time. If that fight happens, I believe the winner will be the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time.”
“The Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder currently holds the record for the highest knockout win percentage of all time.
After hearing George Foreman’s comments, Deontay Wilder responded by saying, “I understand Foreman’s and everyone else’s sentiments, but they have to let their glory days be in the past. I am the greatest boxer in the history of boxing. I have won 42 fights with 41 knockouts, and those numbers speak for themselves. My knockout ratio is 97%, and I surpass other fighters. These numbers speak the truth.”
