The boxing endeavors of YouTube sensation siblings Logan and Jake Paul continue to generate controversy and divide the boxing community, and the recent remarks made by the older brother during a podcast are bound to upset many.
Logan Paul recently engaged in an exhibition match against the retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr., who holds a perfect record of 50 wins and 0 losses. The fight ended without a clear winner. Mayweather boasted both before and after the pay-per-view spectacle, referring to it as a “legalized bank robbery.”
These unconventional matches involving amateur boxers have attracted significant attention, comparable only to the trend of retired fighters making comebacks in their 50s for similar non-competitive events. A notable example of this trend was Mike Tyson’s highly regarded bout with Roy Jones Jr. last year.
Drawing parallels between these two distinct realms, Logan Paul asserted that he not only has the potential to step into the ring against Mike Tyson but also to emerge victorious.
During an episode of his show ‘Impaulsive,’ he expressed, “Someone brought up Mike Tyson. Isn’t it amusing? One legend at a time. Or is it that you can only face one? My lawyer mentioned it, and he said, ‘No, Tyson will decimate you. You don’t stand a chance.’
“I responded, ‘Dude, I just went through all of this. You can’t tell me I can’t defeat Mike Tyson.’ Come on, he’s old, really old!”
Jake Paul, who currently holds a record of 3-0 in boxing, having defeated three non-boxers in their professional boxing debuts (streamer KSI, former NBA player Nate Robinson, and ex-UFC star Ben Askren), reassured his brother by saying, “You did better than Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather.”
However, Logan Paul is now facing ridicule after claiming that he could defeat the legendary Mike Tyson in a boxing match. Following his recent fight with Floyd Mayweather, the controversial internet personality expressed his interest in another exhibition match. Nonetheless, boxing fans found the notion of a 26-year-old defeating one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time to be utterly laughable.
During an episode of his podcast “Impaulsive” on June 10, Logan Paul expressed his thoughts on the idea of facing 54-year-old Mike Tyson, saying, “Bro, he’s old, old!”
He further elaborated, saying, “Someone mentioned Mike Tyson, like how funny is it? One great at a time. Or is it like you can only fight one? My lawyer mentioned it, and he was like: ‘No, Tyson will rip your head off, you don’t stand a chance.'”
Undeterred, Logan Paul responded, “I’m like: ‘Bro, I literally just went through all of this, you can’t tell me I can’t beat Mike Tyson.'”
Supporting his brother’s confidence, Jake Paul chimed in, saying, “You did better than Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather.”
Logan’s unwavering confidence in his potential to defeat Tyson sparked widespread mockery on Twitter, with boxing fans sharing numerous jokes and memes depicting the champion boxer knocking out the YouTuber.
One tweet humorously suggests, “The Mike Tyson-Logan Paul fight would look something like this,” accompanied by a clip of the Hulk annihilating an unfortunate individual.
Another tweet comments, “Man, Logan Paul really has a death wish. I can’t see Mike Tyson holding back like Mayweather did, and Mike could knock him out cold.”
Taking a jab at Paul’s lackluster performance against Mayweather, another tweet jests, “Breaking news: Logan Paul plans to embrace Mike Tyson and earn millions.”
