RIP Pebbles! World’s oldest living dog who enjoyed music and ‘loved to play and run’, dies at 22
Pebbles, the world’s oldest dog, passed away just five months before reaching the age of 23, which is a heartbreaking loss.
Guinness World Records confirmed the passing of the Toy Fox Terrier, and it is believed that she passed away from natural causes.
During her final days, the beloved dog was in the loving care of her owners Bobby and Julie Gregory at their South Carolina residence.
Pebbles was born on March 28, 2000. When the chihuahua TobyKeith was declared the oldest dog in the world, Pebbles’ owners, Bobby and Julie, were alerted to the news by friends and relatives.
Julie shared with Guinness World Records how it unfolded: “Bobby was sitting on the couch, and friends and relatives started texting and calling about a story they heard about a 21-year-old dog getting the record.”
Realizing the potential, Julie promptly applied for the record after seeing TobyKeith’s story making headlines in the news.
Soon after Pebbles was first acquired, the Toy Fox Terrier gave birth to 32 puppies in three separate litters, with her canine companion, Rocky, who sadly passed away in 2017 at the age of 16.
Pebbles led an active life in Taylors, South Carolina, where she spent the majority of her years. Julie and Bobby, her devoted owners, announced the news of Pebbles’ passing in a heartfelt news release.
The couple shared some of Pebbles’ favorite things: “She enjoyed listening to country music and cherished being showered with love. Trying out new foods and being spoiled were some of her joys in life, but above all, feeling loved was what mattered most to her.”
“Pebbles was not just another dog; she had her own way of being and her own personality,” they continued, expressing their deep affection for their beloved pet. She was truly a one-of-a-kind companion, and having her as a pet and a cherished member of the family was a privilege they cherished.
“Nobody who ever met Pebbles didn’t adore her,” the couple added, acknowledging the special place she held in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
